ANN-LSTM Controllers Based Novel Control of Multiple PVS-WPS-BESS Supplied Standalone System

The global trend towards the adoption of photovoltaic (PV) and wind energy sources is on the rise, facilitating the development of hybrid standalone electrical power generation systems. Nevertheless, these systems encounter various obstacles due to its unpredictable behavior of solar irradiances, speed and directions of wind, and load fluctuations. Innovative control methodologies are required to supply quality power in these systems. The presence of a battery energy storage system (BESS) is crucial in standalone systems to ensure reliable and stable power to electrical loads, given the variability of wind speed and solar irradiance. Therefore, a DC bidirectional device is linked into the standalone system to connect the BESS. Furthermore, combining several wind power generators and PV panels can establish a strong hybrid system capable of providing consistent power to the load. The main intension of this research work is on a hybrid standalone system with a capacity of 1MW, integrating different wind and PV systems located at various places. In order to optimize the best utilization of the entire system, a maximum power point tracking converters are associated for the PV and wind turbines, in conjunction with a perturbed and observe algorithm. An innovative ANN-LSTM controller has been integrated for the inverter and bidirectional converter in order to guarantee the delivery of top-notch power to both three and single phase electric appliances. The efficiency of the suggested controller has been thoroughly assessed through hardware-in-loop simulations on OPAL-RT units, showcasing its efficacy across different scenarios.
