Components and Devices for a Compact Multistatic Optoelectronic THz Spectroscopy System
This scientific paper is an outcome of the MARIE (for more information, see trrmarie.de) project C06. In the first two phases of the collaborative research center, we have obtained an insight into the influence of scattering surfaces on the spectral fingerprint of different materials. Furthermore, photonic THz transmitter, receiver, and multi-octave THz packaging technologies have been developed. Moving forward, classifying and identifying materials in a dynamic environment introduces new challenges compared to the previously static scenarios. For example, spectroscopic characterization in a dynamic scenario must be carried out more quickly, both requiring a higher system signal-to-noise power ratio and a highly compact system that can be mounted on a mobile vehicle. In the 3rd phase, the project C06 will address these challenges with the combination of technological innovations for mobile high-power broadband photonic transceivers, the development of a novel compact multistatic system for spectroscopy and localization, and the invention of new iterative algorithms.
