Investigation of Impact of Renewable Resources Time Series Dynamics on Power System & Control

In power systems, dynamic security assessment (DSA) often requires complex severity indices, so we must perform rapid emergency testing. However, this study presents a set of straightforward indicators focused on coherency, transient energy conversion, dot products, and generator coupling characteristics after a contingency. This research investigates indicators that quickly identify out-of-step conditions in wind-integrated power systems. By simulating various line outage scenarios in a modified IEEE 10-generator 39-bus system with wind farms, the study identifies indicators for different fault durations and locations. This information aids in understanding and addressing system stability issues. Additionally, the study examines any correlations between these indicators and system stability.
