Evaluating crop establishment methods for growth, yield and economics of lowland rice

A field experiment titled “Evaluating Crop Establishment Methods for Growth, Yield and Economics of Lowland Rice” was conducted at the Instructional cum Research Farm, S.G. College of Agriculture and Research Station, Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh, India, during the summer of 2019. The study was laid out in a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with six treatments and four replications. The results indicated that maximum plant height, tillers per hill, leaves number plant-1 grain and straw yield were observed in transplanted 20 days old seedlings, which showed a significant advantage and was comparable to line sowing of normal seeds. Conversely, the lowest grain (3.42 t ha⁻¹) and straw yield (7.14 t ha⁻¹) were obtained from the broadcasting of sprouted seeds.
