DETERMINANTS OF EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT IN IT INDUSTRY – AN EXPLORATORY STUDY

Employee engagement deals with the commitment of the employees towards their work and how they get motivated to contribute to organisations success with an enhanced sense of their own well-being. It is an approach that increases the chances of business success, contributing to organisational and individual performance, productivity and well-being. The main aim of the study is to identify the factors which affect employee engagement in IT industry in Coimbatore. The study was based on the primary data, which was collected with a help of well-structured and pretested interview schedule, administered to 161 employees in various IT industries in Coimbatore. Exploratory Factor Analysis is used to identify the underlying factors. The results found that ve factors were identied as the important determinants of employee engagement, which contributed to 64 per cent of the total variance.
