Synthesis and Characterization of Metal Complexes derived from 4-Methyl-2-Oxo-2H-Chromen-7-yl-Acetate.
A new ligand AMC (7-acetoxy-4-methyl coumarin or 4-methyl-2-oxo-2H-chromen-7-yl-acetate) is prepared from the condensation of resorcinol, ethyl acetoacetate and acetic anhydride. A new metal chelates derived from 4-methyl-2-oxo-2H-chromen-7-yl-acetate with Ni (II) and Cu (II) ions. The metal chelates was prepared and characterized by IR, NMR, TGA-DTA, XRD, Elemental analysis and molar conductance measurements. The AMC ligand and their metal chelates have been tested for their antimicrobial activity using Broth Dilution Method and the results were discussed.
