Effect Of Gotu Kola Ethanol Extract (Centella Asiatica) On Epidermal Growth Factor, Malondialdehyde, And Alpha Glucosidase Levels In Wistar Strain White Rats With Streptozotocin-Induced Diabetes Mellitus

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is one of the global health problems. In 2019, it is estimated that the prevalence is 6.2%, and in 2021, it will be 10.8% of the world's population, with a mortality rate of 1 million deaths each year. The general objective of this study was to analyze the effect of Centella asiatica ethanol extract on hyperglycemia, wound healing, and antioxidants in white rat Wistar strain (Rattus norvegicus) model DM-induced streptozotocin. The study design with posttest-only controlled group design was an experimental laboratory on male white Wistar diabetic mellitus rats. This design allows researchers to measure the effect of treatment (intervention) on experimental groups by comparing experimental groups with control groups. The results of this study found that there were significant differences between treatment groups on ulcer area and healing area (p < 0.05). This shows that gotu kola leaf extract has the potential for wound healing.
