Exact Levy-Type Solution for Buckling of Rectangular Composite Plate Reinforced with Graphene Nanoplatelets

In this study, an exact solution is presented to investigate the buckling behavior of composite plates reinforced with graphene platelets (GPLs). It is assumed that plate is subjected to either uni-axial or bi-axial compression. The properties of the plate were calculated using the Halpin–Tsai theory and the rule of mixtures, and first-order shear deformation theory was employed to derive the governing equations. The stability equations are obtained by means of the adjacent equilibrium criterion and solved using an exact procedure for the case of Levy-type boundary conditions. After solving these equations and finding the critical buckling load, the results were validated, and the effects of aspect ratio (length to width ratio), thickness to length ratio, and weight fraction on the critical buckling load were calculated.
