Dynamic Behavior Research of a Cavity–Plate Model with Nonlinear Connectors

Nowadays, many studies concentrate on elastic structures with elastic nonlinearities, finding that elastic nonlinearities have a potential application in their vibration control. However, few studies employed elastic nonlinearities in the cavity–plate model, making the influence mechanism of elastic nonlinearities on such a model unclear, limiting the application of elastic nonlinearities on the vibration and noise control of cavity–plate models. To study the effect of nonlinearities on the cavity–plate model, this work focuses on the cavity–plate model with nonlinear connectors. After systematic analysis, the variation of core parameters of nonlinear connectors significantly influences the behavior of the nonlinear cavity–plate model. Reasonable parameters of nonlinear connectors play a crucial role in reducing the noise and vibration of the nonlinear cavity–plate model at resonance regions. Nonlinear connectors can bring about the complicated behavior of the cavity–plate model. Under the complicated behavior, responses of the cavity–plate model under a single-frequency excitation are changed into multiple-frequency responses. Besides, the vibration energy of the cavity–plate model is unidirectionally transferred between their components under some time intervals. Importantly, the plate connected by nonlinear connectors presents the vibration-absorbing characteristic in the vibration control process. This work provides a new perspective to control the noise and vibration of the cavity–plate model.
