The Role of Social Workers and Medical Nurse in Addressing Mental Health Challenges for Respiratory Patients
Respiratory diseases, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, and lung cancer, are not only associated with physical health impairments but also significant mental health challenges. Anxiety, depression, and emotional distress are common among respiratory patients due to disease progression, treatment burden, and lifestyle limitations. Social workers and medical nurses play a crucial role in managing these challenges by providing psychosocial support, mental health interventions, and patient-centered care. This paper explores the responsibilities and collaborative efforts of these healthcare professionals in addressing the psychological well-being of respiratory patients. It highlights the importance of integrated care approaches, patient education, and emotional support in enhancing overall health outcomes.
