ECHOCARDIOGRAPHIC ALTERATIONS IN PREGNANCY INDUCED HYPERTENSIVE PATIENT ATTENDING RURAL TERTIARY CARE HOSPITALDBVPRMC, LONI.
Pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH) is a signicant contributor to maternal morbidity and mortality, affecting cardiovascular function. This study aimed to evaluate the echocardiographic and hemodynamic alterations in PIH patients at a rural tertiary care hospital. PIH patients exhibited signicantly higher systolic (151.62 ± 11.58 vs. 110.4 ± 8.0 mmHg) and diastolic blood pressure (95.71 ± 7.22 vs. 70.0 ± 5.0 mmHg), mean arterial pressure (114.34 ± 8.04 vs. 83.5 ± 6.0 mmHg), and pulse rate (87.73 ± 5.83 vs. 80.0 ± 10.0 bpm). Echocardiographic assessment revealed increased left atrial size, stroke volume (77.51 ± 5.36 vs. 70.0 ± 4.5 ml), and cardiac output (6796.93 ± 618.28 vs. 5600.0 ± 500.0 ml/min), with reduced MAPSE and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF). Additionally, left ventricular mass and mass index were signicantly elevated, suggesting hypertrophic changes. These ndings highlight the critical need for routine echocardiographic evaluation in PIH patients to detect early cardiovascular changes and implement timely interventions, thereby reducing the risk of long-term cardiovascular complications.
