The comprehensive simulation framework of dynamic optical coherence tomography for the investigation on intratissue dynamics (Conference Presentation)

Dynamic optical coherence tomography (DOCT) is a label-free imaging method that captures temporal OCT signal fluctuation that attributes to intracellular and intratissue motilities. This study presents a DOCT signal simulator using mathematical models for seven motility categories, generating dynamic OCT speckle patterns and incorporating physically accurate noise. As the analysis examples, we computed three DOCT contrasts: logarithmic intensity variance (LIV), OCT correlation decay speed (OCDS), and amplitude power spectrum (APS). Results indicate LIV increases and APS broadens with scatterer’s speed, while OCDS shows a peak at a specific speed. The DOCT signals maintain reliability at signal-to-noise ratios above 30 dB.
