Dynamic 3D imaging of outgrowth formation from ovarian cancer spheroid with optical coherence tomography (Conference Presentation)
A major and unique characteristic of ovarian cancer metastasis is the outgrowth formation and dissemination into the peritoneal cavity. Understanding this morphing process and the underlying mechanism is critical for developing advanced clinical strategies. Ovarian cancer spheroid in laminin- and collagen-rich environment was recently established as an in vitro model featuring formation of outgrowths, which facilitates mechanistic studies of the metastatic process. However, assessment of this 3D model primarily relies on 2D imaging and frequently requires fluorescent labeling. Here, we present 3D and dynamic label-free imaging of the ovarian cancer outgrowth formation process using optical coherence tomography.
