Exploring Student Evaluations of Industry Sharing Sessions; Insights and Implications
This study assesses the students' feedback on the program and the industry's involvement in sharing property management skills. Property management-related disciplines are practice-based. Therefore, it is typically challenging for academia to include practical curriculum components, especially regarding current needs. Research around the globe has revealed the need for academics and industry practitioners to collaborate. Many can see students stand to benefit significantly from exposure to real-world applications and industry challenges. One of the most essential requirements of employers from workers is practical experience, thus requiring education institutions to design curricula that provide the skills demanded by the job market. This study was conducted on 3rd_semester undergraduate students of Estate Management, UiTM Perak Branch, Seri Iskandar Campus. The total population of this student is 38, and about 32 students responded to the questionnaire survey that was distributed. Data collected was analysed using frequency tables with the aid of SPSS Software version 16. Impressive feedback was discovered from the students as the collaboration with the industries was able to help the students grasp the concept of property management practically. In a knowledge-sharing session, a seasoned property management professional delivered valuable insights on two crucial skills: rent collection and tenant management. These skills are pivotal in ensuring smooth operations, fostering tenant satisfaction, and maintaining profitability in the real estate sector. Meanwhile, for the lecturers, the impact of the outcomes of academia-collaboration has been construed as value added to the core activities of the academic, especially in improving teaching and learning activities. This relevance helps ensure that the educational content remains aligned with the evolving demands of the real estate sector.
