Comparative Study of PID and Fuzzy Logic Controller for Active Magnetic Bearing System

It is never easy to control an Active magnetic bearing (AMB) system. due to the system's intrinsic nonlinearity and open loop instability. This article describes a closed loop and provides a brief explanation of each of its components in order to facilitate correct bearing functioning. Next, using MATLAB Simulink, a PID controller is simulated and put into practice. In addition to calculating several time domain characteristics, its step response is observed. Later, utilizing the fuzzy toolbox of MATALB, a fuzzy logic controller (FLC) is created for the closed loop AMB system. Implementing the FLC to the closed loop AMB is carried out in simulation. Again, time domain parameters are observed. Using the data of time domain parameters, a comparison is carried out to analyze the performance of controller on the closed loop system. The compared results show the effectiveness and usefulness of a particular controller.
