Improvement in the Architecture of a Dual-Stage Bilateral AC-DC PFC Converter for Upcoming Electric Vehicles

This work introduces novel single magnetic core completely soft switched bridgeless Buck-Boost (BB) power factor correction converters that may realize either positive or negative output voltages. The primary switches may operate fully ZVS regardless of changes in grid voltage or load. Furthermore, the centralized ground and one ended output of the suggested converters improve power density and reduce common mode noise. In order to naturally shape the input current, the suggested converters run in discontinuous conduction mode (DCM). The following article explains and simulates a typical on-board dual-stage charger that works well over a wide variety of I/P and O/P voltages. The preliminary stage is a brand-new bridgeless boost buck converter, which has two possible uses: rectifier and inverter. When EMI common mode filtering is reduced, leakage current and common mode noise are maintained at comparatively low levels. The 2nd stage regulates the current traveling through batteries to guarantee safe charging and offloading. It does this by integrating an isolated bilateral filter into a direct current converter, which provides galvanic isolation. Throughout the whole battery voltage range, the suggested 2nd stage converter can concurrently charge high-voltage (HV) and low-voltage (LV) batteries. The converter terminals are galvanically isolated from one another using a 3-winding transformer, which couples the power transfer between the 3 ports. The results of the simulation show that applying step-up and step-down techniques can achieve peak efficiency of 94.4 percent and ninety-five for ac-to-dc power conversion.
