Feathered Insights: Advanced CNN-Based Classification of Sparrow Species
This research concentrates on the identification of different types of sparrows through CNN which has two convolution layers, one max pool layer. The goal is to accurately identify and differentiate between six sparrow species: There are varieties of sparrows which include the House Sparrow, Tree Sparrow, Harris’s Sparrow, White-throated Sparrow, Golden-crowned Sparrow, and Chipping Sparrow. A detailed analysis of the model was made and the assessment of the selected model was based on the use of factors such as precision, recall, F1 measure, accuracy as well as support. All these results show that for most of the species, the CNN has high precision and recall scores, particularly in the House Sparrow, Golden-crowned Sparrow, and Chipping Sparrow therefore implying that CNN can be used for species classification. Still, a slightly lower value of recall concerning Harris’s Sparrow indicates that further development is to be continued. This study establishes CNNs’ capability of serving as strong predictors for avian species classification and offers useful recommendations for further studies. Further work suggestions are the augmentation of the database, the inclusion of other types of species, and the utilization of other topological patterns of interconnected neuronal nodes for improving the identification capabilities and resistance of the introduced model.
