Integrating IoT and AI for Holistic Water Quality Monitoring and Management
Managing water resources is becoming necessary due to several global issues, such as an increase in population, urbanization, and climate change. This research aims to establish the feasibility of an IoT Smart Management System, thus improving the efficiency of water usage through monitoring, analyzing, and controlling. It was implemented across several water distribution networks, and the sensors used include those for flow, pressure, and water quality. The datasets were collected and preprocessed, then analyzed for six months with the help of cloud computing and machine learning techniques. According to the study conclusion, there was a water loss reduction of 15% due to early detection of leaks and other inconsistencies; at the same time, resource distribution efficiency was up by 12% due to the use of predictive models. The system's user interface provided the stakeholders with details that could inform their decisions, enhancing the decision-making activities. A comparison test was made with the Smart IoT Management System to the traditional water management techniques, with an overall reported operational efficiency enhancement of 20%. However, some limitations include the initial implementation cost, concerns over data privacy, and the necessity of a reliable connection, which were recognized. This study also underlines the possibility of employing IoT to enhance the advancement of sustainable WM improvement and expansion. Ideas and suggestions are presented herein. It is noted that the study provides relevant evidence to support the thesis that integration of IoT technology with advanced analysis of large amounts of data could imply a range of improvements in the sphere of water saving, thus supporting the idea of sustainable resource management in conditions of the world’s gradual but steady shift towards the scarcity of freshwater supplies.
