High Step-Down Bidirectional Multiport Converter

This letter introduces a high step-down bidirectional multiport converter with three switches. The proposed converter has a single source, an energy storage device, and a load, configuring the multiport structure. The configuration has three different modes of operation and the steady-state analysis for each mode has been discussed. Furthermore, a controller has been developed to regulate the load voltage with the help of small signal modeling. The proposed converter has been experimentally validated on a 600-W laboratory prototype for an input voltage of 270 V converted to 28 V at the output with a switching frequency of 25 kHz. The performance analysis with respect to various attributes has been evaluated and reported. In addition, the proposed converter has been compared with similar converters reported.
