Power Quality Enhancement Utilizing DSTATCOM And DVR With PI Controller in Distributive Generation System
The growing dependence on electricity as a crucial driver of economic growth, social progress, and technological development has led to a sharp rise in power demand. To meet this demand, it is critical to ensure a power supply that is stable, reliable, and free from disruptions. However, integrating renewable energy sources into distribution systems has introduced new challenges in maintaining power quality, given their intermittent characteristics. This project focuses on enhancing power quality at the distribution level through advanced technologies and control methodologies. The proposed system combines a Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) and a Distribution Static Compensator (DSTATCOM), both equipped with a Proportional-Integral (PI) controller optimized using the Sliding Mode Control (SMC) algorithm. The DSTATCOM addresses reactive power compensation and manages voltage fluctuations from renewable energy sources, while the DVR quickly corrects voltage sags and swells caused by disturbances in the system. The PI controller ensures steady control signals, and the SMC algorithm provides a fast, robust response to changing conditions. By integrating these technologies, the system achieves significant improvements in power quality. This project presents a solution to mitigate power quality issues in distributed generation systems, with MATLAB simulation software used to develop and test the proposed design.
