Power Quality Improvement in Solar PV and Wind System Using D-STATCOM and UPQC
Modern distribution and transmission networks have power quality as a major concern. FACTS (Flexible AC Distribution Systems) gadgets have shown to be useful in addressing these issues. This project focuses on using shunt controller devices like DSTATCOM (The distribution Static Compensation) with UPQC (Unified Energy Controller) to mitigate harmonics, a significant power quality issue brought on by nonlinear loads. Using energy from renewable sources like solar power and wind turbines for DC generation, DSTATCOM runs in voltage control mode. Because batteries are not required in this configuration, DC link voltage management is possible, guaranteeing efficient control and stability. A dependable power source is ensured by the project's combination of PV and wind technologies. It is shown that sinusoidal source currents can be produced with DSTATCOM and UPQC even when nonlinear as well as unbalanced loads are present. Instantaneous Symmetrical Components Theory (ISCT) is used in the proposed system, and the MATLAB/SIMULINK environment is used for simulation. This simulation demonstrates how these devices may stabilize the voltage profile and reduce harmonics to maintain power quality, improving the power system's overall perform.
