Maximum Power Point Tracking Based Solar Photo Voltaic System with Induction Motor Drive
Solar power-based induction motor drives for water pumping applications represent an innovative and energy-efficient solution for agricultural and irrigation needs, particularly in off-grid and remote locations. This paper discloses the complete design and performance of photovoltaic (PV) systems fed induction motor-drive for water pumping applications. The proposed system converts solar energy into electrical power, which drives the induction motor to operate water pumps. The integration of Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) technology ensures optimal use of solar energy throughout varying sunlight conditions, thereby maximizing efficiency. The complete design of power electronics involved in the drive system, including inverters and controllers, to optimize motor performance are disclosed. Moreover, the complete model is simulated in MATLAB and the results shows the characteristics of solar power fed induction motor drive.
