Bridgeless CSC and Solar Powered ACS: A Comparative Analysis
In air conditioning system (ACS), polluted input current and excessive carbon emission are major challenges which are affecting environment and distribution system adversely. In order to reduce the severity of these issues, ACS shall be reconfigured. Retrofit configurations or usage of solar energy is one of the possible ways to mitigate these issues. This paper presents the comparison of two such ACS, one with a bridgeless CSC (Canonical Switching Cell) converter to improve power quality and the other is solar powered HGBC (High Gain Boost Converter) ACS which is self sustainable. Solar radiation is tracked and converted to energize solar ACS which is connected to the converter to achieve constant voltage. To convert dc voltage into ac, an inverter is connected to the motor. To determine the utilization of both the configurations, these are simulated using MATLAB/Simulink and analyzed under a range of performance characteristics including torque and speed.
