Novel Fault-Detection and Classification-Scheme for Transmission Line Integrated with Wind DG

As the cumulative integration of RES like wind DG in the power grids produce new tasks to maintain reliable and stable operations, mostly in uncompensated transmission lines. Such lines, lacks reactive power compensation and exhibit distinct electrical features that obscure traditional fault analysis and classification methods. Furthermore, all irregular or variable nature for wind power introduces instabilities in voltage and current, further complicating fault identification. This paper proposed a scheme especially to design uncompensated power TL connected to WDGs. A complete model of a wind-integrated transmission line is established in MATLAB/Simulink, with various fault situations simulated under different wind power scenarios. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the scheme, showing high accuracy in fault detection and classification, even under fluctuating wind power output. The proposed approach offers a reliable solution for enhancing protection mechanisms in renewable energy-integrated power systems, ensuring greater grid stability and fault resilience in the context of uncompensated transmission lines.
