Compact Mode Locked Laser Diode Driven Terahertz Time Domain Spectroscopy System
Terahertz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) is a well-established technique that has been recognized for several decades. It offers a wide range of potential applications across a broad electromagnetic spectrum, where few other measurement techniques are available. However, despite its potential, there has been limited industrial adoption of THz-TDS systems. This can be attributed to several factors, with two of the most significant being the bulkiness and high cost of current state-of-the-art implementations. To address these challenges, this work explores the development of a compact and cost-effective THz-TDS system. This work focuses on two key components: the photonic source and the optical delay units, as these are the primary contributors to the complexity, size, and cost of most THz-TDS systems.
