IoT-Enabled Predictive Maintenance for Sustainable and Ethical Sourcing Assurance
The growth of IoT revolutionizes opportunities that can be utilized in promoting sustainable and ethical supply networks around the world. In this paper, the author seeks to discuss how smart and sustainable/ ethical assurance of material sourcing processes could be attained through IoT enabled predictive maintenance techniques. With real time data that is available from IoT devices the predictive maintenance algorithms can predict possible faulty equipment or supply chain issues, thus reducing the average time that a piece of equipment is out of use or stock is delayed. Furthermore, when ethical sourcing criteria is included in the consideration of the prediction maintenance models then it is ensures that the business operates above board since they meet the set ethical standards hence benefiting from the goodwill that comes with it. In this study, the scope of utilising IoT for predictive maintenance in supply chains is delineated throughout the literature review and formalised methodologies, thus asserting its applicability in the field of sustainable and ethical sourcing assurance.
