How did we get to the concept of sustainable urban mobility planning: Development of transport planning

In the article, the author shows the development of transportation planning from early civilizations to the present days, which led us to the concept of sustainable urban mobility planning. In essence, the author tries to show that human efforts in solving problems, especially in transportation, were always directed towards sustainable concepts that corresponded to the conteporary level that match actual problems. The number of crises, especially those at the end of the 20th century, influenced the fact that moves towards sustainable development took place in two areas - planning visions of transport system development and developing vehicle engines in the direction of minimizing negative consequences for the environment.
