Blockchain-Driven Compliance Assurance in Supply Chains: Leveraging Reinforcement Learning Techniques

This paper aims at dissecting the application of blockchain technology and reinforcement learning the improvement of compliance assurance within the supply chains. A possible set of benefits concerning the new technology under consideration is as follows: Blockchain is a digital distributed ledger or database that cannot be modified in any way once it is set up, so, transactions bring higher transparency and security through the ability to record information, increase traceability of goods and data, and simplify audit work, as there is no possibility to change the information entered. Automated checks in smart contracts are based on rules checked by the blockchain at each stage of a transaction to penalise non-compliance. Reward based learning, which is a form of machine learning that deals with the making of decisions based on the outcome of the decision on the environment it has been put, is a powerful tool in process improvement. RL algorithms allow not only predicting and minimizing the potential threats but also determining the most efficient paths for logistics’ realization and introducing constant changes in decision-making processes. In this paper, it has been identified that when blockchain and RL are combined, they make a potent platform for real-time, automated, and adaptive compliance management with minimized human intervention and enhanced performance.. The integration of blockchain and RL presents several valuable opportunities to increase the effectiveness of supply chain compliance assurance, providing an outlook for a more enhanced, secure, and transparent supply chain environment.
