Fuzzy Based Direct Torque Control of Induction Motor for Electric Vehicles

The Induction Motor is a viable and Affordable solution; however, since the speed of an battery operated vehicle is constantly changing, so to maintain proper speed over time requires much control complexity. This paper implements a fuzzy direct torque control (DTC) for Induction Motor (IM)-based battery operated vehicles. Although DTC has been previously researched for direct torque control with rapid torque response, it has two performance challenges: torque ripple and non-fixed switching frequency, which relate to the switching frequency in response to varying load conditions. Since fuzzy logic can be contributed after the DTC to create better switching decisions, thereby increasing efficiency and bettering dynamic response torque ripple reduction. Thus, this proposed fuzzy DTC allows for efficient and robust IM speed control within the electric vehicle IM system during all operating conditions—acceleration, deceleration, and constant speed. As per the simulation results, the proposed method shows good Torque-speed performance with torque ripple decrease, allowing induction motor electric vehicles of Electric Vehicles to come one step closer to a novel dependable, efficient high-performance driving system.
