Optimizing Dissolved Ozone in the Water by Using Micro-Nano Bubble Technology as Preliminary Study for Sustainable Hospital Wastewater Treatment
Hospital wastewater contains a variety of pollutants, including pharmaceuticals and antimicrobial-resistant microbes, posing significant challenges for traditional treatment methods. This study explores the optimization of micro-nano bubble ozone technology for effective and sustainable wastewater treatment. By utilizing a locally developed Dielectric Barrier Discharge (DBD)-based ozone generator and venturi mechanisms, this approach improves ozone dissolution efficiency while reducing reliance on costly imports. Experimental findings indicate that lower inlet flow rates enhance ozone concentration, whereas higher rates optimize production capacity, enabling precise adjustments for different treatment needs. The integrated system addresses environmental and public health risks associated with untreated wastewater while promoting technological independence and sustainability in line with Indonesia's 2045 vision. The proposed solution is affordable, scalable, and effective in degrading pollutants, offering a robust strategy for hospital wastewater management in developing countries. Future research aims to enhance system adaptability to diverse operational conditions.
