TO STUDY AND ASSESS THE EFFECTS OF INTRATHECAL HYPERBARIC ROPIVACAINE(0.75%) VERSUS HYPERBARIC ROPIVACAINE (0.75%) WITH FENTANYL IN LOWER ABDOMINAL SURGERIES: A PROSPECTIVE COMPARATIVE STUDY

Aims and Objectives: To study and assess the effects of intrathecal commercially available Hyperbaric Ropivacaine (0.75%) versus Hyperbaric Ropivacaine (0.75%) with fentanyl in lower abdominal surgeries. Methodology: 76 patients belonging to ASAI and II aged between 18-60 years undergoing elective surgeries will be randomly selected. Informed consent will be taken. Patients are randomly allocated into 2 groups, and receives one of the 2 study drugs mentioned above. Preanaesthetic check-up will be done with a detailed history, general physical examination and systemic examination. Preoperative routine investigations are done. Weight and height of the patients will also be recorded. Assessment of sensory and motor blockade, Assessment of intraoperative and postoperative analgesia is done. Results: Demographic data like age, sex, ASA classication are statistically insignicant. Post operative p-value is <0.0001 indicating a statistical signicance and lesser VAS scores in group RF. In the present study, on comparison of pruritis and nausea of 2 groups, p value of 0.4933 is noticed which is not statistically signicant. Conclusion: Group RF had signicantly longer duration of action, longer time for rescue analgesia demand and had lesser VAS score. There is no statistically signicant difference is seen in side effects between both the groups
