La producción de lugares en el trabajo misional de los Hermanos Maristas en Nueva Pompeya (Chaco, Argentina)
In this work we account for the production of places that are related, dialogue and interweave with the missionary work of the Marist Brothers, a religious agency that has been working since 1979 in the town of Misión Nueva Pompeya (Chaco). We start from a notion of "place" as socially produced and endowed with memories and representations that give them a specific historical density. The work of the Marists is related to and spatialized in specific places that are also constructed and link historical and contemporary cleavages, certain representations of the indigenous people and that, in turn, inscribe certain specific features of otherness related to space. From an inculturated socio-religious work, promoted by the congregation, several topics emerge in relation to places: the collective and community as a rapprochement of interpretative horizons between Marists and Wichís, the otherness that represents bodies anchored in specific places, bodily displacement and the values that are imprinted on them, social hierarchy and enclaves of resistance. Our perspective is purely ethnographic, based on periods of co-residence, participant observation and field diary. Specifically, we give an account of four specific spatialities: the house of the brothers, the mountain and the landscapes, the village chapel and the grotto of the Virgin of Guadalupe.
