The practice of applying measures to stimulate the production and management of the prickly crab (Paralithodes brevipes) fishery of the North Okhotsk Sea subzone of the Sea of Okhotsk

The difficulties of managing populations of poorly studied species of aquatic biological resources (UBR) are typical for all fishing basins in Russia. A feature of the exploitation of these species is the lack of commercial and scientific information, which often leads to situational decision-making in their management. In the context of the problem of rational exploitation of biological resources, the history of the spiny crab fishery in the northern part of the Sea of Okhotsk is considered. Based on materials on the history of fishing and the dynamics of fishing indicators in 2000-2021, the effectiveness of measures to regulate the resource of the spiny crab is analyzed. The ambiguity of decisions to change some regulatory measures is shown. It is stated that the management of these coastal bioresources requires taking into account the socio-economic factor that significantly affects the intensity of spiny crab production.
