Low-cost platform for multiwell bacterial biofilm growth monitoring with optical coherence tomography (Conference Presentation)
In this study, we introduce a novel low-cost imaging platform for high-resolution, longitudinal, and parallel imaging of several bacterial biofilm samples. We installed the sample arm of a Spectral Domain Optical Coherence Tomography (SD-OCT) system on a 3D printer head inside a custom-built incubator in order to scan biofilm in 3D. Several samples can be scanned sequentially, without mechanical movement of the samples and over several days during biofilm formation. This work allows to multiply the number of replicate experiments to understand the influence of physico-chemical parameters on biofilm dynamics and growth to better estimate experimental variability.
