HELFER SKIN TAP TECHNIQUE VS STANDARD TECHNIQUE TO REDUCE PAIN DURING INTRAMUSCULAR VACCINATION AMONG CHILDREN ATTENDING IMMUNIZATION CLINIC: A RANDOMIZED CONTROL CLINICAL TRIAL
Introduction: Medicine used in the diagnosis, treatment, cure, relief, or prevention of various health problems. The route prescribed for a medication depends on the desired effect of the medication and the patient's physical and mental condition. Nurses are responsible for developing a plan of care, to work with therapists and patient and their family along with other team members to treat and improve quality of life. There are various routes that are used to introduce drug or medication in patient's body. The routes can be from mouth, intravenous i.e. by injecting in the veins or intramuscularly where it is injected in muscles. Injection can be given in spinal cord or in the subcutaneous layer of skin. Some drugs administered through the rectum and vagina or by through eye, ear and nose. Good technique of injection can help in reducing pain and discomforts. The proper administration of intramuscular injection is necessary to relive the discomfort and pain to achieve the therapeutic effect. Aim of study was to find out the effectiveness of Helfer skin tap technique. This study adopt quantit Methods: ative research approach. Design of the study was true experimental posttest only design. The setting of the study was selected hospital of Jalandhar Punjab. Research Setting The main study was undertaken at the immunization center of selected hospital of Jalandhar Punjab. Target Population: This study's population consists of children 2 month to 5 years. Accessible Population In this study accessible population refers to children coming to immunization center of selected hospital Jalandhar Punjab. Sample The sample is a subset of the population selected to participate in the study. In this study, the sample are children 2 months to 5 years. Sampling Technique A purposive random Sampling technique was selected. Sample Size The study used a sample size of 60 children. The FLACC scale scores for the experimental group indicate that the majority of children Result: experienced mild discomfort, with 27 out of 30 children (90%) falling into the mild discomfort category (scores of 0-3). A smaller proportion of children, 3 out of 30 (10%), experienced moderate pain (scores of 4-6). Importantly, none of the children in the experimental group experienced severe discomfort or pain (scores of 7-10), indicating a generally low level of pain or discomfort among the children.
