Feminist Critical Discourse analysis and Thematic analysis on the Movie Osama Afghan (2003)
This study aims at examining the Feminist Critical Discourse Analysis (FCDA) and Thematic Analysis (TA) in the movie Osama Afghan. On the part of FCDA, this study has investigated how the constructed rigid culture and religion have maintained patriarchy in the movie; while in the case of Thematic Analysis, it has focused the themes and patterns that have come out because of the relationship between language, power and gender in the movie Osama Afghan. By keeping in view purposive sampling of method, the mix-theoretical model of FCDA and TA is applied in combination with the Three-Dimensional model contributed by Fairclough (1995). This study has aimed to highlight the overall cultural attitude of Afghan Taliban toward their women and how they oppress the women ideologically. At the end, the movie Osama Afghan has reflected on how women put a stern hindrance and resistance to compete with the cultural and religious norms that illegitimately prevailed by the patriarchy in the Osama Afghan (2003) movie.
