Developing a system of exercises for teaching translation of color terms in socio-political discourse to translation and international relations students

The aim of this study is to develop a system of exercises for teaching the translation of color terms (coloratives, color names) within the context of socio-political discourse. The article presents practical experience from translation classes and experimental solutions to translation problems provided by fourth-year students in the "Translation and Translation Studies" program at Leningrad State University named after A. S. Pushkin, and by master's students in the "Global Politics and International Political Analysis" program at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (University) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the fact that the authors have, for the first time, developed a system of exercises for teaching the translation of coloratives to senior undergraduate and graduate students specializing in international relations and the theory and practice of translation. The seven types of exercises described are aimed at overcoming difficulties in the translation of coloratives through the study of their functioning in socio-political discourse. The proposed system of exercises can be considered an expansion of the possibilities of didactics in the field of socio-political translation.
