Long‐term displacement behavior under sustained load for post‐installed rebar connections and bonded anchors
Abstract Post‐installed rebar connections and bonded fasteners are frequently used in the construction industry for connecting structural concrete elements or for anchoring structural steel elements to the base material concrete. The main goal of this contribution is to compare the long‐term displacement behavior under sustained load between the two common steel elements used for these application types, namely rebars and threaded rods. For post‐installed rebar connections and bonded fasteners, different European Assessment Documents (EADs) apply for product qualification. The main difference between the two EADs is that in the case of sustained load testing, a lower constant load is required for post‐installed rebar connections. Due to simpler test execution, often threaded rods instead of rebars are tested with the lower constant load. With this investigation performed on the same injection mortar, it can be shown that due to the different steel element geometry, no notable differences in the long‐term displacement behavior occur for the investigated shallow embedment depth.
