Uso de agentes dermatológicos na clínica de pequenos animais
The present study aimed to carry out a brief integrative bibliographic review of national and international articles on the use of dermatological agents in small animal clinics. These agents include topical medications, antimicrobials, corticosteroids, moisturizers and therapeutic shampoos, among others. Antimicrobials are used to treat infections, topically or systemically. Corticosteroids are used to reduce inflammation and relieve itching, and can be administered topically or orally. Moisturizers can be used to maintain the skin barrier and improve skin moisture, helping to recover from injuries and dryness. Therapeutic shampoos may contain antimicrobial, moisturizing, anti-inflammatory and exfoliating properties. Dermatological treatment in small animals must be carefully adjusted, taking into account the correct diagnosis, assessment of the severity of the condition, response to treatment and good acceptance by the tutor.
