The SIMFIRE project aims to analyze and validate hospital’s fire emergency response plans through computer simulation. Since its launch in 2023, 13 hospitals have participated, with 11 having completed their projects. The project’s primary purpose is to facilitate hospitals in using computer simulations to conduct large-scale, cost-effective validations and optimizations of self-designed fire evacuation scenarios, without disrupting routine operations or patient care. The project duration ranges from 3 to 6 months, depending on the complexities of the evacuation scenarios. The project workflow involves the hospital submitting evacuation scripts, collaborative calibration of simulation parameters, and final closure meeting, followed by a formal report. The simulation results provide key metrics, such as patients evacuation times, staff movement distances, and support personnel utilization rates. Additionally, customized simulations can be tailored to meet specific hospital requirements. Participating hospitals have expressed high satisfaction with project outcomes, recognizing the significant value of the computer simulations in refining evacuation strategies and enhancing fire drills effectiveness.
