Degree of polarization uniformity in dental calculus identification based on polarization-sensitive optical coherence tomography intensity images (Conference Presentation)
Effective periodontitis treatment requires thorough dental calculus removal. Previously, we introduced the disease activation maps(DAM) algorithm for lesion site identification, facilitating non-contact assessment. However, accurate delineation of dental calculus remained challenging. Here, we leverage polarization-sensitive optical coherence tomography(PS-OCT) to evaluate the degree of polarization uniformity(DOPU), achieving excellent contrast between dental calculus and normal dental tissues. Our findings suggest promising potential for precise dental calculus delineation.
