Cell-to-clinic label-free multimodal optical imaging for visualizing drug delivery, distribution, and dynamics in cells and tissues (Conference Presentation)

Label-free multimodal optical imaging technologies and AI-driven image analysis solutions offer the opportunity to visualize, track, and understand the delivery, distribution and dynamic response of cells and tissues to drugs and interventions. This presentation will review the development and application of novel multimodal cell-to-clinic nonlinear and linear optical imaging systems in the GSK Center for Optical Molecular Imaging. Examples of investigational studies include drug uptake and distribution into single cells, drug responses and metabolic changes across tissue types, early optical molecular changes associated with toxicity and injury, studies in pre-clinical animal models, and finally clinical human studies of drug distribution and cellular responses in dermatology. This presentation will also propose future studies for this community to leverage the multiple advantages of label-free multimodal optical imaging in pharmacology, biopharmaceutical processing and production, and efficacy and toxicity studies associated with the development and use of drugs to improve human health.
