Investigating chromophore changes in bruised skin In vivo using diffuse reflectance spectroscopy and Monte Carlo simulation (Conference Presentation)
Evaluating bruise age is crucial in forensic and medical contexts. This study presents a non-contact system using Diffuse Reflectance Spectroscopy (DRS) and Monte Carlo (MC) simulations to analyze chromophore changes in bruised skin. Measuring multiple sites improves accuracy and convenience over traditional methods. Using a broad-band visible light source (450-600 nm) and a three-layer skin model, the Modified Beer-Lambert Law (MBLL) calculated changes in optical density (ΔOD) and absorption coefficients (Δμa), estimating relative chromophore concentration changes. This method enhances non-invasive bruise age assessment for forensic and clinical evaluations.
