The diffuse spectral response of skin in vivo to deformation based on hyperspectral imaging

This study investigates the diffuse spectral response of skin to deformation, identifying key influencing factors. We develop a mechanical anisotropic dynamic reflectance spectral theory by integrating a hyper-elastic-anisotropic skin mechanics model with the Kubelka-Munk model. Conducting loading experiments on the human forearm, we capture hyperspectral imaging data along and perpendicular to the muscle fiber direction. Parameter inversion reveals that changes in epidermal and dermal thickness, melanin volume fraction, blood volume fraction, oxygen saturation, and moisture significantly affect spectral response. Our findings highlight the dynamic interactions of mechanical and physiological factors, offering insights for non-invasive health monitoring and bio-optical sensing applications.
