InP-based photodetector technologies for datacom applications
The invited talk provides an overview on recent developments of InP-based photodetectors for data center applications. The two key approaches will be discussed: monolithic pre-amplification and WDM demultiplexing. The integration of semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOA) and arrayed waveguide gratings (AWG) within photonic integrated circuits (PIC) will be highlighted in the context of these two approaches. A special emphasis will be on the polarization-independent reception of data signals, which is essential for applications in data centers.
