The Contribution of Suicide to Maternal Mortality: A Nationwide Population-Based Cohort Study
(Abstracted from BJOG 2024;131(10):1392–1398) Maternal suicide—defined as suicide while pregnant or within 1 year postpartum—accounts for 13% to 36% of all-cause maternal deaths in high-income countries. In the United States, it is hard to get exact data nationally, but data coming from maternal mortality review committees (MMRCs) find similar proportions.
