Design and implementation of a smart farming system for Jidong County based on the Django framework

With the continuous development of science, technology, and society, traditional farming models have fallen behind the times. In particular, there are many individual farmers in rural areas who primarily use self-produced, self-sold models, which lack timely feedback on livestock growth and hinder unified market regulation, significantly slowing the development of the market economy. With the popularization of internet technology and the advancement of artificial intelligence, building a smart agricultural ecosystem for centralized management of individual farmers and their livestock products has become a necessary trend in social development. Currently, there is limited research in China on developing smart farming systems for unified management of farmers, but some foundational research has been conducted in the design and implementation of smart farming systems. To address the issues in Jidong County’s livestock industry, such as the inability to centrally manage farmers and livestock products and delays in information feedback, this paper designs and builds a smart farming system based on the Django framework. This system uses the Django web framework and MySQL database, with frontend and backend code written in Python, HTML, and other languages. The smart farming system enables functionalities such as user registration, login, data uploading, and data statistics. Additionally, it uses chart.js and highchart to present statistical data in graphical form to the administrator, allowing for a more intuitive understanding of farmers and their products, thereby achieving unified regulation and management of farmers and livestock products. The system has passed functionality and performance tests, providing a supportive platform and technical assurance for centralized management of individual farmers and livestock products, achieving an initial smart farming model.
