Effects of Unsupervised Gluteal Muscle Contraction Versus Unsupervised Pelvic Floor Muscle Training in Women With Symptoms of Stress Urinary Incontinence: A Randomized Controlled Trial

(Abstracted from Int Urogynecol J 2024;35:1829–1837) Urinary incontinence (UI) occurs in approximately one third of women between the ages of 30 and 50, and the symptoms associated with it can reduce both quality of life and self-esteem. Current guidelines recommend pelvic floor muscle training (PFMT) to strengthen muscles of the pelvic floor and ease symptoms, though these exercises are difficult to perform correctly and difficult to verify correct performance for optimal symptom relief.
