The bodies of pornographic cinema: a study against theoretical and methodological simplification
This paper points out the abundance and diversity of films included under the label of pornographic cinema; in this sense, the author argues that the bodies represented there should not be grouped into a timeless and ubiquitous image. To make these differences evident, a review is offered of three of the bodies that intervene in pornographic cinema: a) the actor, who exposes himself naked in front of the camera; b) the spectator, whose stimulation can lead to sexual activity; c) the film, whose frames focus the gaze on certain parts of the human body. This review allows us to notice the profound generic difference that exists between the bodies represented but also sheds light on the ethnic and physiognomic differences that constitute an important part of this type of cinema. The conclusions of this work are far from putting an end to a collective discussion but they contribute to dialogue in a reasoned manner.
