Digital Maturity Model for Industries SMEs: A Systematic Literature Review

Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) play a major role in the global economy as they employ millions of people and contribute greatly to economic growth. However, these companies face significant challenges in competing with large enterprises, especially with the topic of digital transformation. It has become strategic for organisations to invest in the digital transition, and there are various supports and incentives for organisations to invest in digital transformation, and multiple digital maturity models for SMEs aid in developing effective digital transformation strategies. In addition to providing a framework for Industry 4.0 and presenting concepts about the maturity and digital maturity models, this study conducts a systematic literature review on digital transformation models for industrial SMEs, considering the needs of SMEs in transitioning to Industry 4.0. In this work, the strategy used to carry out the literature review is based on the Tranfield, Denyer and Smart model, complemented by the Webster and Watson model. According to the research criteria defined, this work presents 10 models. Based on the analysis of the models, a synthesis was made of the main aspects that the models take into consideration, namely the number of levels, the dimensions and the focus of each model. The critical dimensions that should be used in a maturity model for digital transformation were found, namely IT infrastructure, customer experience, strategy, knowledge, processes, and culture.
